As a Tableau Developer, you will play a critical role within a cross functional team whose mission is to be the technology drivers that will enable Nationwide to differentiate as THE leader in the marketplace. The Enterprise Build Metrics, which this role supports, provides critical insights to leaders throughout the company to help Nationwide deliver the best possible experience for our customers. Responsibilities will include enhancement work on existing dashboards, understanding and anticipating user needs for reporting solutions, and automating manual tasks in the reporting development pipeline.

Ideal candidates for this role will have:

Required deep development experience in Tableau, SQL, Relational Databases

Exceptional communication skills and the ability to interact, collaborate, and present to all levels of the organization

Desired development experience in Python, Power BI, Paxata, AI/ML

Knowledge of Git and version control best practices

Experience collaborating with end users and other stakeholders to define detailed requirements

Design thinking approach to put our customers first

Understanding of DevOps principles and modern software development practices

Experience working in an Agile environment

Strong virtual collaboration skills

Compensation Grade F

This role is currently working in a hybrid capacity. It collaborates in office with the team a few days every other week. Subject to change.

As a Software Engineer, you will focus primarily on providing high quality, efficient technology solutions to business partners by crafting new software applications or modifying and/or supporting existing packaged or custom-built applications. In this capacity, you’ll analyze, code, configure, test, debug, document and maintain applications.

Job Description

Key Responsibilities:

Analyzes, solutions, develops, tests, debugs, documents and deploys software according to standards in an agile environment.

Uses DevSecOps practices, tooling and techniques.

Drives continuous improvement and learning through ongoing training, practice and innovation.

Manages medium to large project priorities, deadlines and deliverables proactively.

May perform other responsibilities as assigned.

Reporting Relationships: Reports to a Technology Manager/Director.

Typical Skills and Experiences:

Education: Completion of undergraduate studies in computer science, management information systems, or other related degree. Technology experience or non-traditional technology certificates can be substituted for an undergraduate degree.

Experience: Four or more years of analysis and technology experience.

Knowledge, Abilities and Skills: Proficiency in one or more programming language such as Java, C++, Python, JavaScript. Strong knowledge of software development lifecycle. Proven ability to tackle complex business and development problems. Ability to thrive in a team environment. Insurance/financial services industry knowledge a plus.

Other criteria, including leadership skills, competencies and experiences may take precedence.

Staffing exceptions to the above must be approved by the hiring manager’s leader and Human Resources Business Partner.
