About the Role
The Strategic Business Development Representative (BDR) program is a 18 to 24 month program in which you will
- Create excellent customer experiences with Strategic Accounts
- Learn customer-centric sales skills
- Become an expert in Cloudflare’s product
- Upon completion of this program, team members have opportunities to move into roles across the organization, especially in mid-market sales, customer success, solutions engineering, and sales operations.
Day in the Life of a Field Outbound BDR at Cloudflare
- Own and operate your individual sales pipeline
- 100% of your effort will be breaking into Strategic Accounts within your territory
- Focus 90% on outbound sales, while balancing 10% inbound, marketing-generated leads, and partner leads within Territory
- Work cross-functionally with stakeholders (account executives, marketing, sales operations, Channel, and fellow BDRs)
- Help lead BDR team wide campaigns (we’re a collaborative group)
- Identify target contacts with strategic timing and strong use cases
- Write emails and LinkedIn messages you’d love to open; make calls you’d love to receive; ask compelling questions
- Meet target quota related to the number of qualified opportunities, the value of sales pipeline, and revenue
- Report, track, and manage sales activities and results using SFDC
- Play an active role in the creation and iteration of team processes
Examples of desirable skills, knowledge and experience
- Bachelor’s degree required
- Technical curiousity
- Experience in outbound prospecting to Strategic accounts
- Self-motivated; entrepreneurial spirit, self-reliant; ability to navigate large complex accounts with little direction
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced dynamic environment
- Strong interpersonal communication skills (verbal & written)
- Aptitude to learn technical concepts/terms and the internet security market
- Ability to manage multiple tasks/projects simultaneously
